I totally know what you mean. Don't be too hard on your father -- he was probably doing that five-mile uphill walk in bare feet(!)

Wow, number one is going to be tough for me. I'm going to really have to work hard not to explain to my daughter over and over again how many chores she would have to do to buy the dvd player that Santa brought her for Christmas, after she leaves essential pieces of it at a friends house! I'm also going to have to work really hard to stop blaming this action of mine on my father telling me that he walked 5 miles uphill (each way) to school every day over and over and over again when I was growing up!
